Some features on this site require a subscription. I kind of want to check it out but I can find no independent vertificatia that it is, in fact, a gay bar and not just a Spanish bar.
There are some pretty questionable gay bars being listed by Google. The Homestead in Piscataway? No way. The Den is now closed. Asbury Park is probably the closest. In the house music genre and scene, Newark is known as an innovator. Newark's Club Zanzibar, along with other gay and straight clubs in the s and 80s, was famous as both a gay and straight nightlife destination.
A sizable and diverse LGBTQ community contributes to the long-time perception of Plainfield as a stronghold of gay life and gay community in the suburbs of New Jersey. Plainfield has one of the highest percentage of same-sex householders in the state of New Jersey. Inthe New York Times reported on what was termed at the time as the "growing homosexual population in Plainfield" drawn to the stock of aging Victorian, Tudor and colonial homes, and featured interviews with various gay men who lived in Plainfield and worked in Manhattan.
